ANIMALS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE IN OUR DREAMS
Animals are very important symbols in our dreams, they represent our primal urges that we are repressing, and our basic animal instincts like warmth, food, aggression, sex, home-making, parenting etc.
The actions of the animals can help us determine different characteristics of ourselves.
They can help us to find hidden desires, fears and anxieties, and help us express how we feel in relation to something /someone, too.
Domesticated animals represent internal issues such as internal influences, like family, domestic issues, friends in our lives and feelings.
Undomesticated animals suggest outside influences, desires, instincts and feelings.
We need to look closely at the dream and the animal, and need to understand the following:
1. Do we fear it?
2. Do we see it as a threat?
3. How do we react in the dream to it?
All of the above will help you to analyse your dreams, along with looking at the meaning of dreaming about the
(most commonly dreamt about) animals as explained below:
BEAR – can indicate that you have issues with your digestion system,
but can also show independence and strength.
BIRDS - can represent ideals goals and ambitions we have.
CAT - suggests the need for warmth and love, but can also represent our gut feelings and intuition or guilt.
They can also represent an issue with our digestion /stomach.
CROCODILE – shows fears, anxieties, and worries about losing your grip on a situation.
You need to regain your strength and way of thinking – don’t take too much on.
DOG - the most common animal dreamt of, it represents loyalty,
but if it’s angry or annoyed can represent hidden anger we have, or a feeling of disloyalty from others.
ELEPHANT - although a large sturdy animal, and thick-skinned, suggest sensitivity.
FROGS – can portray transformation and confused feelings.
It can also represent reproduction, due to the “tadpole to frog” process.
HORSE - represents strength, power, the ability for drive, and balance.
LION - suggest leadership and strength, a pride of lions can suggest pride is limiting your natural abilities.
SNAKE - suggests worries about health, and is often seen as a symbol in pharmacies.
It can also suggest that someone is being sneaky or untrue.
TIGER - suggests career issues, due to its colours of orange and black -
orange being a stimulation of ideas but the black also, perhaps, includes a little work-related stress.
WOLF – is indicative of fear and anxieties we suppress.
